Jessica Penny is a certified personal trainer and women’s fitness specialist through the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM). Jessica received her Bachelor’s in Biomedical Sciences and Master’s in Biological Sciences at Western Michigan University. Her research focused on the monoamine oxidase A gene also known as the “warrior gene” due to the enzyme’s effects on the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine and an increase in aggression. Working toward her master’s degree, Jessica realized her passion for health and fitness and moved her focus to exercise science. She has completed two half marathons and hobbies include: weight training, refurbishing furniture, and reading.
Currently, Jessica is an instructor at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, teaching Anatomy and Physiology and introductory health and fitness courses. Now she wants to utilize her education and certification to help others reach their full potential as it relates to strength and conditioning.
